Founded on Kindness Toward Animals

Kavella was founded by an animal-loving cosmetologist in her search for a professional line of vegan, cruelty-free and natural hair care products. She could not overlook that most of the cruelty-free brands were owned by industry conglomerates that did test on animals. Or if a brand was cruelty free, that did not mean their formulas were vegan.

Instead of just accepting the reality of the industry, she decided to do her part to change it. She studied cosmetic chemistry and began creating plant-based products, testing and perfecting them on her own hair.

Kavella was built on kindness toward animals, and we continue to help protect them by supporting the following organizations:

Our Beneficiaries

Beagle Freedom Project is the world’s leading organization for rescuing and rehoming animals used in experimental research. Since 2010, we have liberated thousands of animals while working to end their abuse through education, advocacy, and legislation. Together, we are moving closer to a world without animal testing!

BFP has over a decade of expertise in rescuing and rehabilitating animals subjected to lab testing and other forms of abuse. Since our founding, we’ve given a second chance to more than 3,000 animals in 36 states and 8 countries! In addition to dogs, we’ve liberated cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, horses, ferrets, mice, rats, alpacas, and even goldfish.

Primates Incorporated

Primates Incorporated has a mission to provide spacious and enriching homes to monkeys retiring from research facilities, the entertainment industry, and pet ownership.

The nonprofit was founded in 2004 by Amy Kerwin. She worked with 97 rhesus monkeys for five years in a laboratory at the University of Wisconsin. She believed the least laboratories and society could do is give back by retiring the monkeys into enriching and spacious sanctuaries. Since her work environment did not believe in primate retirement, she resigned in 2004 to focus on Primates Incorporated and has been networking and volunteering ever since.
